  • Sean P. Strope, MPAS, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant on the Neuro-Oncology Team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.     PA Strope has been with the Neuro-Oncology Team at Huntsman Cancer Institute since Oct 2010. His primary practice focus is the direct care and support of brain tumor patients, as well as support for the families and loved ones of brain tumor patients. Prior to joining the Neuro-Oncology Team, he served as a Primary Care and Internal Medicine PA in the United States Air Force.

    PA Strope received his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center via the Inter-Service Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX (Military PA School), graduating in September of 2000. He completed his second year of PA training at Mike O’Callaghan Federal Hospital at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV where he cared for active duty, VA and civilian patients in all specialty areas of the hospital. In the past, PA Strope served as Assistant Medical Director and Element Leader in the Airmen Clinic at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah, as Director of Medical Plans and Programs for Provincial Reconstruction Team Gardez at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gardez, Afghanistan, and as a Family and Internal Medicine PA at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho and Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

    PA Strope’s accomplishments include the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in March 2008, the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal in Nov 2010, the 75th Medical Group Physician Assistant of the Year for 2008, the Air Force Combat Action Medal in June 2007, and numerous other Military awards for outstanding service and performance.

    PA Strope has also served as a mentor and preceptor to PA students from the University of Utah since 2004, serving as the coordinator for the University of Utah’s Physician Assistant Program’s Friday Clinical Preceptorship effort at Hill Air Force Base. He is also an adjunct Faculty Member with the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program.
