Dress for Success on the Slopes

This head-to-toe guide will help keep you safe, warm, and dry at Utah鈥檚 ski resorts:

  1. Helmet: Wearing a helmet reduces the incidence of ski-related head injuries by up to 50%. Fit the helmet snugly. A good rule of thumb is that when you shake your head, the helmet should stay in place.

  2. Goggles: Goggles allow you to see in a variety of conditions while protecting your eyes from the sun鈥檚 damaging rays. Select goggles with 100% ultraviolet protection.

  3. Mittens: Mittens are generally warmer than gloves but offer less dexterity. Choose a waterproof material of the style you prefer.

  4. Dress in Layers: Wear a breathable and fast-drying base layer and an insulating middle layer. The outer layer should be windproof to protect you from the elements.

  5. Socks & Boots: Wearing too many pairs of socks can restrict circulation and make your feet colder. Opt for one pair of thin ski socks. Boots should fit snugly.

  6. Skis & Snowboard: For safety and optimal performance, get your skis and snowboard tuned by a professional once a year.
