Dear Friends,
As we embark on a new year, I am filled with hope and optimism for the future of cancer care. I am a radiation oncologist with expertise in treating breast and gynecologic cancers and a physician-scientist dedicated to advancing cancer health equity. At Huntsman Cancer Institute, I have the privilege of working alongside a team of passionate and talented individuals committed to improving the lives of people with cancer and their families.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the resilience of people with cancer. I am deeply inspired by their stories and strength. This career has given me a unique vantage point on the preciousness of life and cultivated my intentional practice of gratitude and service to others.
鈥淔or many cancers, we are one clinical trial away from transformative treatments.鈥
Like many in our community, my connection to cancer is deeply personal. Being a caregiver for my mother gave me a profound understanding of the fears, hopes, and complexities faced by patients and their families. It strengthened my resolve to provide the most compassionate and personalized care to every person I treat.
At Huntsman Cancer Institute, we believe the best means of eradicating cancer is through research, education, and advocacy. For many cancers, we are one clinical trial away from transformative treatments, better access to care, or a more meaningful quality of life.
鈥淭ogether, we are creating a future where hope thrives, and cancer doesn鈥檛 define a life.鈥
the next generation of physicians and scientists is a personal passion of mine, as I am dedicated to fostering growth and development of the workforce to drive innovation in cancer research and clinical care. Advocating for people with cancer is also critical, and my active involvement in several national organizations helps advance this goal.
Together, we are creating a future where hope thrives, and cancer doesn鈥檛 define a life. Thank you for your unwavering friendship, partnership, and support. Let鈥檚 continue working collectively toward a brighter, healthier future for all.
With hope and gratitude,
Gita Suneja, MD, MSHP
