Huntsman Cancer Foundation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Peter Huntsman announced today Michael Delzotti, FAHP, CFRE, will serve as president and chief operating officer beginning on April 16, 2025. Delzotti was selected for the position following a national search.

He has proven experience, a stellar reputation, and an enthusiasm that make him an ideal fit for this position.鈥
Delzotti will be a fiduciary and officer of the foundation. He will serve as a key voice and advancement collaborator to garner philanthropic resources to fuel the future of Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Huntsman Cancer Foundation is a charitable organization with a singular mission to raise funds to support Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah. The foundation enjoys the support of more than 1 million donors and has an extraordinary track record of securing support for infrastructure and research at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Delzotti, a well-respected and dynamic leader with deep experience in cancer fundraising, will look to expand upon a strong legacy of fundraising excellence. He will oversee a highly qualified team of leaders in advancement. Thanks to generous donor support, Huntsman Cancer Institute has flourished and risen to international impact and prominence since the Jon M. and Karen Huntsman family opened the first phase of Huntsman Cancer Institute, the Jon M. Huntsman Cancer Research Center, in 1999.

Huntsman Cancer Institute Chief Executive Officer Mary Beckerle, PhD, is looking forward to working with Delzotti to ensure the institute鈥檚 mission can be felt for generations to come. 鈥淢ichael Delzotti brings an impressive r茅sum茅 with a proven record of successful fundraising for cancer. He will be a passionate leader and partner in ensuring Huntsman Cancer Institute鈥檚 vision and strategic priorities have financial support and deep involvement by our community,鈥 Beckerle says.
Delzotti鈥檚 past nonprofit roles include service at the Special Olympics and the University of California, Los Angeles. He has a track record of success in cancer center philanthropy, including positions at Rice University and MD Anderson Cancer Center where he has led multibillion-dollar fundraising campaigns. He directed the Neurodegeneration Consortium campaign, raising $65 million with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Baylor College of Medicine.
In his most recent role as president and chief executive officer of Markey Cancer Foundation, Delzotti was part of the leadership team that worked together to secure designation as a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center for the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. Delzotti is a national thought leader in cancer philanthropy, including serving as a past chair of the National Association of Cancer Center Development Offices (NACCDO). He also served as treasurer and executive committee member on the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) International Board. Delzotti received the M. Anne Murphy Award for Professional Advancement from AFP-Houston and the George A. Brakeley, Jr. award from the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy for his article in the peer-reviewed journal Healthcare Philanthropy. In 2023 he received NACCDO鈥檚 highest honor, the Lisa Considine Service Award.
