Yoshimi Anzai, MD, MPH, has received the Marie Slodowska-Curie Award from the American Association for Women Radiology (AAWR), the highest honor presented to Women in Radiology and Radiation Oncology disciplines. The nomination recognizes the role Anzai has undertaken "in leadership, clinical care, teaching, and/or scholarship and the accomplishments that impacted women in our profession."

Anzai has served as the AAWR president in 2013-2014, where she recruited many faculty and trainees and established a partnership between AAWR and the American College of Radiology (ACR). The partnership helped increase the visibility of AAWR and led to the establishment of the Commission of Women and General Diversity within the ACR.

"Supporting gender equality and under-representative minority students and faculty has been my passion. I believe in empowering women and providing equal opportunity benefits the entire organization," Anzai says. "Building an inclusive society and community takes time and effort and should not only be left in the hands of women and minorities. There needs to be all hands on deck if we want to become an inclusive and equitable organization."

Anzai currently serves as the co-director of the Women in Health, Medicine, and Sciences at the University of Utah, which advocates for women faculty in all stages of their career.
