Becker's Hospital Review Names University of Utah Hospital to its list of 100 Great Hospitals in America

University of Utah Hospital has been named to the 2016 edition of the Becker's Hospital Review list of "100 Great Hospitals in America."

The hospitals are selected based on rankings and awards from reputable sources, including U.S. News & World Report, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, the American Nurses Credentialing Center and The Leapfrog Group, among other resources. The final result is a list of 100 hospitals that are considered overall health care leaders in their region, state or the nation.

According to Becker's, "The hospitals on this list are well-known for a multitude of reasons, such as having a strong history of medical innovation, providing top-notch care to patients, leading clinical advancement with forward-thinking research or holding an irreplaceable spot in their communities".

The Becker's profile of University of Utah Hospital states, "U.S. News & World Report ranked in both Utah and the Salt Lake City metro area in its 2015-16 rankings. In 2016, the hospital received the Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence Award from Healthgrades, as well as inclusion in its 100 Best Hospitals for critical care, gastrointestinal care and general surgery." In addition, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics is a Level I trauma center and the only academic medical center in the region.
