Cancer treatment can significantly impact a person's sense of self and body. The Wellness and Integrative Health Center at Huntsman Cancer Institute offers an integrative approach to your treatment, addressing physical, emotional, and mental aspects of healing.

Music therapy

Music therapy provides a unique outlet for expressing and coping with emotional upheaval. It can alleviate pain, nausea, and promote self-discovery. By engaging in music therapy, patients can find a sense of peace and resilience, reaffirming their identity and fostering a positive self-concept amid the changes.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient practice that complements traditional treatments, empowering patients to manage side effects and take charge of their healing. 鈥淧atients love getting massage and acupuncture through the Wellness Center. It has helped so many with anxiety and nausea,鈥 says Lindsay Burt, MD, physician at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Through targeted treatments, acupuncture stimulates the body鈥檚 natural healing processes, offering relief from symptoms like nausea, pain, insomnia, and stress.

Massage therapy

Massage therapy offers a comforting touch, easing physical and emotional discomforts like pain, fatigue, and anxiety. The personalized nature of massage therapy ensures that each patient's are met, reinforcing their sense of self and providing a peaceful retreat from the challenges of treatment.

Group Fitness

Group fitness classes provide a supportive community that promotes physical activity and emotional well-being. Classes are tailored to an individual鈥檚 needs and focus on strength, flexibility, and endurance. In addition to the physical benefits, the classes also offer a sense of belonging.

Integrative Therapies for Wholeness

These therapies all address the emotional and identity challenges of cancer treatment. Gabrielle Langmann, MD, a palliative care physician at Huntsman Cancer Institute, highlights the impact of the Wellness Center.
